But first let me tell you a bit about Peter.
Actually before I do that, I should tell you about one of the dark sides of the NLP community and why it's important for you to know.
When I was a rising star in the NLP community, before I had started my Youtube channel, I started getting recognition from my teachers.
Some of them were world renowned teachers. In other words, if I mentioned their names, you would know them.
One in particular singled me out and started to paint a vision of us working together and me teaching some of his trainings.
I was more than flattered and started to dream of my teaching career taking off since his institute was already established. This went on for months as he dangled everything I wanted in front of my eyes, yet something wasn't right.
Every time I tried to get a day and a time that we could make his ever evolving plans a reality, he wouldn't give me specifics.
And then suddenly all communication ended between us. I couldn't get him to answer my emails nor my messages.
It was so discouraging that I wondered if I should continue pursuing coaching and teaching as a career. I was left to wonder what I had done wrong.
Months later as I was trying to put it all behind me and move forward, I bumped into a student of the same teacher, someone I had often seen in class. We got to talking.
Feeling like I had nothing to lose I told her what had happened. She stayed quiet, not saying a word until I finished.
Her mouth hung half open and her eyes wide with astonishment made me think she didn't believe me. She had been close to the teacher as well.
"Damon... he did the same exact thing to me." She said. "He told me all of the same things and then suddenly, just like you, he wouldn't respond to my call or emails."
What?
It was nice to know that it wasn't just me, but still, what a slimeball thing to do to someone and not just once. It turned out that her and I weren't the only ones.
Eventually I met up with another student who had been through the same runaround by the same teacher.
It made sense now. All of the students he had done this to were rising stars. We were the A+ students and he feared that we would become NLP teachers and compete with him.
So what did he do? He built us up so he could make us fall even harder and hopefully discourage us from continuing to pursue teaching NLP as a career.
Well it didn't work obviously. Unfortunately though this is not common to just this teacher. It happens a lot in the field of NLP.
So I decided that I would never do that to someone especially not one of my own students and especially not with a student who shows tremendous promise.
Peter is a rising star. His enthusiasm and his ability to absorb NLP and use it practically and effectively is amazing.
He's also a great teacher and coach.
Instead of building him up and then trying to shatter him, I asked him to work with me. Together we can add more value to the world.
From now on he will be doing a video a month for my Youtube channel.
Check out his debut on my channel! This is the first time in more than three years of having this Youtube channel that I've ever had someone else make a video for it.
Enjoy learning how to master your states by mastering anchoring!
