Can You Change Your Personality Type?

Social media is full of personality type quizzes. Apparently we're obsessed about knowing who we are.
What do you do if you find out something about yourself you don't like or you want to change?
Watch this video:
Recently someone commented on the video I posted about getting fed up to the point of changing yourself or changing your life. He explained that his personality type made it impossible for him to change therefore he couldn't get what he wanted.
He claimed to be an introvert, which to him meant he was a poor communicator and there was nothing he could do about it.
Most personality profiling is sold this way, that their system tests the unchangeable parts of you, your essence in other words that can't be modified.
It's hard to resist taking a profiling test that promises something this big.
While there may be some parts of your personality that is solid and will never change like certain physical traits like eye color never change, I would say that only 10% to 20% of your personality is perhaps unchangeable. I would go even further to say that that 10% to 20% isn't even that important just like your eye color isn't important to your eyesight.
In NLP we have a way to profile people called Meta Programs. An example of a Meta Program is a person's tendency to put their focus on moving toward what they want or focus on avoiding what they don't want.
This is part personality trait and is also contextual.
A person might be more Toward than Away from in certain situations and just the opposite in other situations.
You can change your Meta Programs. I even created a process called the Meta Program Mixing Board where I help people adjust their Meta Programs to get the most out of situations and contexts that are problematic.
Let's take a look at Extroversion and Introversion.
These are not either/or labels. If they were, all Introverts would be just as introverted as every other introvert and all extroverts would be the same as all other extroverts, but they're not.
This is more of a spectrum rather than a diagnosis.
The true difference between extroverts and introverts is how we recharge.
Despite doing public speaking, being in hundreds of videos, cold approaching women who I want to meet, and teaching live trainings to groups, I am an introvert.
I was once a shy introvert who challenged and continues to challenge myself with extraverted activities.
Being an introvert doesn't mean I don't like these extraverted activities. I do like these activities and I really enjoy socializing, but it wears me down.
How does an introvert recharge? Alone.
Extroverts recharge by being around people and doing very social and extraverted activities.
When I burnout, I need to be alone and I need to do activities that don't require others, so that I can reenergize.
After challenging yourself with extraverted activities you will become more extraverted. It doesn't mean you will become a level ten extravert, but it does mean that you're not stuck in a limited personality type.
So if you take these quizzes or personality tests and it tells you are a personality type that you find limiting, challenge it.
If you want to change, change.
If you want to drop beliefs that limit you, drop them.
If you don't know how, NLP can help you.
