Discover The Right Career For You - NLP MindShift

Where do you fit? What's the right career for you? What is your place in the world?
Ever ask yourself these questions?
If so, stop. They're not serving you.
One of my subscribers, Mila, asked if NLP could help her determine the right career for her. She's 29 years old and every career she's tried out she either didn't like or she lost interest.
I know exactly what that is like and unfortunately we tend to think there's something wrong with us when we keep losing interest or keep getting bored with a job or learning a particular career.
First of all NLP cannot determine the right career for you.
However, NLP can help you figure out what you like, what fulfills you, what you truly want in life and how to create a strategy to get it.
Mila also put her four letter Meyers-Briggs personality type in her email to me. These are so popular that I even see them on dating profiles.
Personality tests and quizzes that are supposed to determine your personality type are all the rage on social media as well.
If you ask me these create more problems than they solve.
When you ask the question "where do I fit" or "where do I belong?" (in this case, it's a career), you're really asking what box can I fit myself into?
I will use box and category interchangeably.
Any time you try to squeeze yourself into a box you will suffer. You will be disappointed and you will be unfulfilled.
Why?
Because a category is a made up concept and you are way to big and complex to fit into a concept you created.
Yes, even career is a concept. You have a certain way of thinking about what a career is and you're trying to fit yourself into it and this will always be unsatisfying.
But we have to make money right and we want to do something more meaningful than just a simple job, so what do I advise?
While NLP can't determine what is the right career for you, it can help you figure out what you want and it can help you get it much faster than if you don't use NLP.
I advise working on getting very clear about the life you want to live. What kind of life do you want to create for yourself?
Use NLP to help you understand this. The best way I know to do this is by eliciting your values and your criteria for what you want.
Then think about what career would serve that vision best?
Now this might take some time to discover, but using NLP will speed this process along and you can use NLP to enjoy the process instead of it being a dark journey filled with unknowns.
What interests you? What inspires you? What are you passionate about? The answers to these questions are all clues leading you to the career that suits you best.
This is what life is about, discovery, and you can create a career in the process and make money at the same time.
Life is not about being miserable at a job for 30 or 40 years while you save up enough money to quit the job. That's not living.
And it's never to late to start the process of creating the life you want and finding or creating a career that supports that vision.
