What does it mean to evolve yourself? What is evolution and how can you use the principle of evolution to become who you want to be and fulfill your desires? I'm not a scientist so pardon the overly simplistic definition of evolution I'm about to give. Evolution is the idea that small or subtle and consistent changes over long periods of time (thousands and even millions of years) creates complex transformation. This is how a dinosaur can become a bird even though they look very different. This is how an ape can become a human even though there are major differences between us. If you're reading this my guess is you're at least 20 years old or older. That's a significant period of time in the lifetime of a human. How might you use the principle of evolution in your lifetime to create significant change or even transformation? Here's the technique: Take one thing, one simple thing that you can do consistently everyday or even once a week that over a period of five, ten, or twenty years would create a significant change in you or your life. I was speaking to my friend Mark Andreas who is an author, NLP trainer, and NLP coach about his writing habits. He's published at least three books by now. I was asking him about his writing habits. It turns out he doesn't have much of a method to his writing habits. He just does it and that works for him. I picked up a stack of nearly 300 pages and told him I had started this memoir in April 2016 with the goal of finishing the first draft by the end of the year 2016 and I did it. The part that amazes even me is that I only wrote for a half hour a day and I didn't even write everyday. I averaged writing a half hour a day for probably five days a week. Not bad! There's a few ways you can do this. You can take three major areas of your life like your health, relationships, and your career and pick one simple thing you can do daily or weekly in each of these areas. Imagine how you and your life would evolve if you did three simple things everyday -consistency is key- for 365 days over ten years. This is an amazing opportunity! Know the saying, life's a marathon, not a sprint. If you're sedentary and need exercise commit to walking a half hour everyday. Who doesn't have a half hour a day? You'll have more energy and more focus and you'll be more productive. Not bad for just a half our investment of your time. Want to be a writer or a blogger? Write for a half hour everyday. Want to be more social? Meet one new person everyday or every week. Can you imagine meeting 365 or even 52 new people in a year you wouldn't have otherwise met? You can also put all your focus on one area of your life and just do one, two, or three simple things consistently. Don't do more than three. When you pile on too much you will likely quit all of them. Do three or less. What would happen to your profits if you implemented 3 new, simple habits in your business? Give this a try and let me know how it works for you.
