When most people think about scarcity and abundance they think about money.
How do you spend money and stay in a state of abundance? Most people struggle with this.
We have to spend money. There's no way you can live without spending money. After you've paid your rent or mortgage, your car note, insurance, and whatever other loans, debts, and bills you have, you might not feel like you're in a state of abundance.
How do you change that?
Let's start with what's causing the problem.
If you think of spending money as something is being taken from you, you're in scarcity.
If when you're spending money you're focused on what you're getting, you will go into a state of abundance and if you take it even deeper you will go into a state of gratitude.
You can't be grateful and in scarcity at the same time. This is the power of gratitude.
This is a great place to start.
Now ask yourself how much of the money you spend is an expense and how much of what you spend is an investment? This is where it gets interesting.
You might find that you're not investing in anything. Everything you spend money on is for maintenance like paying rent, paying just the interest on a credit card bill, paying for coffee, cable, entertainment etc.
Investing would be putting money aside in savings, but it's also investing in you like higher education, personal development workshops, and self-improvement books.
"The very best investment you can make is one that you can't beat, can't be taxed and not even inflation can take away from you. Ultimately, there's one investment that supersedes all others: Invest in yourself." ~Warren Buffet
How much of your money are you investing in you? How much time do you invest in your own development?
Now I'm not suggesting that you go all austerity and cut out all small pleasures like spending money on entertainment or superficial wants. We need to do some of that, but if you're doing all that and not investing in yourself, no wonder you're in scarcity.
Investments mean growth. When you invest in yourself you grow. This is abundance.
The man who inspired Tony Robbins to become... well... Tony Robbins was a man named Jim Rohn. Here's what he had to say about it: "Poor people spend their money and invest the rest. Rich people invest their money and spend the rest."
He wasn't just referring to financial investments. Rohn always advised to develop yourself before you do anything else.
So next time you're feeling like you're in a state of scarcity, first of all, focus on what you're getting in return for what you're spending. If you're not happy with it, change it. Either stop spending money on it or find a better deal.
Then ask yourself if it's an expense or an investment. With an investment, the return might not be immediate. Sometimes growth takes time and patience, but you'll never go wrong by investing in yourself.
Investing in your growth is abundance.
What's the benefit of investing in yourself? That's where you'll find true wealth and I mean that in the monetary sense and in the happiness and well-being sense.
Invest in yourself and the rewards are endless!
