What do you want? What stops you from getting it? These are fundamental NLP questions. These are also questions we hide from. If you haven't noticed by now I do a shit ton of videos for my Youtube channel. Other than NLP questions, I get a lot of questions about how I come up with so much content, how I get people to subscribe to my channel, and how to talk to a camera instead of an audience, etc. These are all good questions, but usually the person asking them will follow it with "I just don't want to be on cameral though. I don't want to see myself." Huh? That's like asking a painter about canvases, types of paint, how to get better at painting and then follow it with "I just don't want to paint." Bullshit! If you're compelled to do video and have a Youtube channel, that is your deeper truth wanting to express itself. Your ego is what's getting in the way. Your ego is what creates fear. Why? Because your ego isn't real. It's the imagination of yourself and you're afraid you'll discover this truth. You're afraid that you're not who you think you are. You're going to have an ego. You might as well have an accurate one and one that serves you rather than one that holds you back, rather than one you serve. This doesn't mean everyone should do video. It's not for everyone especially if you don't feel compelled toward that medium. I don't feel compelled to play a musical instrument or to paint for example. Maybe I will someday. I don't fear doing these things either. Fear of doing something is a good indication there's something you need to face. Something wants to be revealed. For now, video and writing is what seems right for me. It's never been easy though. It's still scary to pour my heart into something and serve it up publicly for anyone to criticize. Sometimes that criticism is exactly what I need to improve and some times it's from someone who wishes me harm, someone who wishes they were doing what I do, but is too scared to so they criticize others for it. So what are you drawn to that scares you? What's something fear holds you back from trying that you know deep down you want to do? What inspires you? Remember: Present State + Resource = Desired State "Well if I didn't have fear I could do it" you might say. But "not" fear is not a resource. What's missing? If you weren't afraid, what would take the place of fear? Discover that resource and remember a time when you experienced it. As you do that you can feel it, can't you? That should let you know that resource is still there, always has been. It never left you. You were able to pull it right up. Now add it into the equation. What is your Present State? What do you want (Desired State)? Bring the Resource in. There you go. Go do it! Sure you might feel some fear. Do it anyway (unless it can really harm you then make sure you understand the risks first).
