So often when I ask clients what they want they say they want more confidence. The interesting thing is they rarely know specifically what they would like to be more confident about or in what contexts they want more confidence. Ultimately I think what they're saying is they just want to be more comfortable with themselves, but that's still vague and I hate to assume. So I want to hear from you and I'll reframe the question. What would you do if you had more confidence and you had more self-esteem? After all, what good is more confidence and self-esteem if it doesn't enable you to do something you couldn't or wouldn't do already? What good is more confidence and self-esteem if you do nothing different and you just continue doing exactly what you're doing? As my mentor Steve Andreas once told me "If you want to be happy, do something that makes you happy. If you want to do nothing and be happy, take drugs." Sometimes clients come to me because they want to feel better about their problems rather than solve them. As strange as it sounds, some of them want to feel better about being unhappy because they don't want to do the work that would make them happy. Reading it that way you can see how contradictory that is, but I was guilty of that thinking too before I started practicing yoga and NLP. Who doesn't want more confidence and self-esteem? As long as it's not arrogance, we all can use more even if we're not suffering. Please respond to this email and let me know what you would do if you had more confidence and self-esteem that you're not already doing? Perhaps I can give you some quick solutions to jump start your year and help you make 2017 a year that changes your life for the better. I look forward to hearing from you.
In this video I discuss with Melanie Fawer the differences between breaking a limiting belief using words and breaking a limiting belief through the body. Even before I began NLP training Melanie amazed me with the way she could put her hands on a person, not say a word, and move them into an asana far beyond what they thought possible, far beyond what they believed. The result of breaking a limiting belief and replacing it with possibilities is that it generalizes to other parts of your life, not just whatever the belief was about. You can suddenly see more possibility and opportunity in the world and with yourself.
