This is both a question and a statement. Before I explain...

Several of you have asked for more information about the Transforming Your Self online training where you can learn Steve Andreas' Self-Concept Model. The best thing to do is to tune into the NLP Gym Facebook page or the NLP Gym Youtube channel this Tuesday the 6th at noon Pacific Standard Time.

I will explain the model and answer your questions.

From now until Thursday, March 8th you can pre-purchase the online training, which will be ready in May, for only $200. After Thursday it will go up to $300.

What does it mean to define yourself? What exactly defines you?

Since no one can really tell you who you are because they're just one perspective and you're only the perspective of yourself, how do you know what defines you?

From a NLP perspective, what defines you is what you attend to.

In other words your focus of attention will define you because your focus of attention will inform your thoughts and your actions.

If you focus on the things that make you worry, you will be defined by worry. If you focus on what you're afraid of, you will be defined by fear. If you focus on everything that's not right in your life, you will be defined by problems.

On the other hand if you attend to possibility, abundance, success, and opportunities, these things will define you.

Focus on what you don't want and you will live a life defined by what you don't want. Focus on what you do want and you will define yourself and your life in those terms.

Is it really that simple? Definitely!

Simple doesn't always mean easy though.

You can begin to notice when you're mind's attention drifts toward the things you don't want. You can intervene and move your attention back to focusing on what you do want.

This takes a lot of conscious effort though and can be very difficult to control throughout your day.

What about your unconscious? What is it focusing on?

Your unconscious contains all of your internal programming that you're not aware of, which is what makes it so powerful.

One of the problems we face is that after millions of years of evolution we're still hardwired to focus on the sabertooth tiger that might be around the corner.

The humans who were constantly aware of all of the possible threats and took precautions are the ones who stayed alive and you're their descendants.

And it's not a bad thing to be aware of dangers. Fear, worry, and anger are good alarm systems as long as we receive the messages they're trying to tell us and proceed in the direction we want to go instead of focusing on the fear.

Right now, whether you realize it or not, your mind is projecting unconscious images, sounds, and tactile and proprioceptive feelings all around you in your immediate, personal space. Some of them represent what you want and some of them represent what you want to avoid.

These projections are your map of reality, your database forged from personal experiences that tells you how to interpret the world around you.

How do you tap into this database and alter it so that you define yourself and your life by the values you want to live, think, and act?

This is the key to transformation.

This is what NLP is great for! This is what the Self-Concept model is all about and that's why I'm so excited to teach it to you.

If you want to learn this, there's two ways: 1) You can read the book Transforming Your Self by Steve Andreas (highly recommended) or 2) You can learn it from the online training I'm creating.

Hope to see you when I go live on Tuesday!
