Who said "You are what you settle for?"
Sounds like something Tony Robbins said, but actually that's a direct quote from singer Janis Joplin in her last interview. Tony Robbins would have been still a child at the time.
Now I'm not suggesting you copy the habits of Joplin. She obviously had some issues that eventually overcame her.
However, if you look at what she was able to accomplish in her short lifetime it's quite extraordinary.
She was not a political activist and she did not champion a feminist agenda but she broke down walls and shattered barriers that had previously prevented women from being taken serious in the musical genres she excelled in.
In other words, she never let anyone impose limitations on her. She knew what she wanted to do and she did it regardless of the approval of others.
We can all learn a lot from her example.
You are what you settle for and you make that decision everyday whether you're conscious of it or not.
Let that sink in.
This is not a moral reprimand and I'm not here to tell you what you should and should not settle for. That's completely up to you. It's your life. You will determine that.
Maybe you've put your heart on the line once or twice. Maybe you failed at something and the disappointment crushed you.
Maybe you trusted someone with your feelings and they betrayed you.
The pain of this is something you never want to feel again so you've settle for less because it's safer and less painful.
But there's a different pain now, the one that feels deeply unsatisfied with your life. It's not that your life is bad. You have the basics. You make an okay living. You have good friends and a supportive family. But deep down inside you know there's more.
You could do more. You could be more.
This is your inner wisdom speaking to you. Perhaps it's singing to you. Call it your inner Janis Joplin.
Just for the record, I've failed at so many things. I've failed at far more things that I've tried than I've succeeded at.
I've also got my heart broken many times. I've loved and I've lost more than most people I know actually (and I don't mean they died, it just didn't work out).
And you know what?
Not only does it get easier, the success, the rewards, and the victories are glorious!
I've even reached a point where I just accept failure and disappointment as part of the process of living and creating the life I desire.
It's not for everyone.
I'm not trying to convince you to live like me or to live like anyone else.
Rather this is a message to those who may still be hesitant to follow their hearts because they fear getting hurt again.
The Law of Averages dictates that the more you try, the more you will succeed. It's a mathematical certainty.
But that's not even the best part.
The best part isn't even what you acquire from success like money and whatever wealth you accumulate. The best part is who you become in the pursuit of what you want.
Tattoo that to the insides of your eyelids!
It's who you become in spite of and because of failure and disappointment.
When you become the unwavering champion of your own life, always getting back up after you've fallen down and trying again, you will truly live your purpose.
The side effect is a purposeful, meaningful, and fulfilling life filled with the wealth and abundance that money cannot buy. Actually it often creates money.
If you're not satisfied with your life take responsibility for having made a choice to settle for the life you have. This is the only way to change it.
When you take responsibility for your life, you take charge of your life and your choices. Now you can make new choices that will change everything.
It is only by becoming conscious of your choices that you've been asleep to until now that you can make different choices and live the life you know you're meant to.
Remember to check out the webinar if you would like more choices!
